First English Baptist Church Preparing for the Future
Pastor and Deacons Request Season of Prayer
Pastor David and FEBC’s Board of Deacons have requested the church to enter a season of prayer regarding a potential building program. Dr. Gerry Snelson stood before a full house on November 9 and presented the logic and reasoning behind a possible new building program that would enhance our varied ministries while giving the church a facility that will be able to grow and adapt to the high-tech world of the next generations. The new structure would replace the parsonage and connect to our existing fellowship hall top and bottom. The two story facility will provide a lower level of classroom space for nursery through high school as well as much needed storage space. The upper level will feature a theatre-style sanctuary with seating for nearly 300 and a lobby area with offices. Advanced lighting, audio and visual equipment will mean greater versatility in ministry and will take advantage of future technologies applied to the church setting. In the future, we see our church hosting live video conferences of speakers such as Beth Moore and others. We also see hand bell and hand chime concerts and seminars taking place there as well as extraordinary puppet shows presenting Christian values and messages and popular gospel singing groups. The possibilities truly are endless. The deacons and Pastor David are convinced that this is how God would have us address our current and future need for additional space and are asking the church family to pray and seek God’s leading. A vote will be taken at the December business meeting on whether to begin moving in this direction and empowering the deacons to take the next steps in the process. May God give us all wisdom to know His will in this matter.
