Our Church and Pastor First English Baptist Church was founded in 1871 by a group of Christians who had been attending the Welsh speaking church (Welsh Baptist) in Frostburg. Because there were English speaking Baptists who could not understand the Welsh speaking pastor, they broke off and formed this, the First English Baptist Church of Frostburg, Maryland. We are a Southern Baptist church cooperating with the Baptist Convention of Maryland and Delaware and the Western Baptist Association in our support of missions. Pastor David Sandvick is a native of Western Maryland and was born in the old Miner’s Hospital in Frostburg. He is a graduate of Washington Bible College in Washington D.C. with a B.A. in Biblical Studies. He has been an ordained Baptist minister since 1982. Pastor David is married with two children and has been serving this congregation since 1991. Pastor David’s approach to preaching and teaching is fundamental and Biblically based. He emphasizes first of all, an understanding of the Word of God, and secondly, personal application of the truths of the Word of God.
